Transitions:

·         Fades

·         Dissolve

·         Wipe

·         Spiral

Cuts:

·         Fast cut

·         Jump cut

·         Cross cutting

·         Action match cut

·         Axial cut – similar to jump cut but moves closer or further away from the subject

What effects the type of editing used?

·         Genre

·         Pace of action

·         Sound used

·         Create illusions e.g. danger

·         Emphasise important objects

Marketing

Editing is used in trailers and TV adverts to advertise the film.  If editing is not used effectively then the audience may perceive the film in a different way to what it should have been therefore attracting the wrong audience.
